Found: Wool Research Fund & Exxon Valdez Pork

What in the world is Wool Research doing in the Bailout Bill passed by the Senate yesterday? Well I found out. The Wool Research Fund is the baby of Democratic Sen. Max Baucus of Montana. He also happens to be the Highest Ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee. According to the the Senator’s website article below, he originally got the Wool Research Fun (originally set to expire in 2007) extended through 2009 as a pork project tied to a “pensions bill”. Now Sen. Baucus found yet another opportunity to extend his pork pet project by piggy-backing the Wool Research Fund to the $ 700,000,000,000.00 mortgage bailout bill.

I wonder if he will brag about this on his website if it gets passed like he did the last time?

EDIT: It appears that Sen. Baucus also tagged on the provision for Exxon Valdez tax revisions. He is very busy with the pork on this bailout bill. I wonder what interest does Montana have in the Exxon Valdez settlement???
